Customized Training for the Career You Want

With a minimum of nine months of direct clinical training in interventional pulmonology, ample opportunity exists to customize your experience through additional electives with a variety of services, including thoracic surgery, otolaryngology, interventional radiology, oncology and others.

Didactic Experiences

Fellows attend a weekly interventional pulmonary conference with dedicated time to covering core topics through didactics, board review questions, presentation development and journal review. Fellows also attend a weekly multidisciplinary tumor board conference to coordinate care for complex oncology patients with thoracic surgery, oncology, radiation oncology and interventional radiology.

Clinical Experiences

A wide breadth of patients referred from across the Midwest ensures broad clinical inpatient and outpatient training at UW Health University Hospital in partnership with the UW Health | Carbone Cancer Center.

Scholarly Activity

Fellows actively participate in a research project during training, and we encourage you to partner with our investigators. You’ll contribute to research progress and learn how to develop, run, and perform statistical analysis for investigations. Most fellows deliver at least one national-level presentation at a prominent meeting, such as AABIP or Chest.

You'll also have opportunities to teach pulmonary and critical care fellows and internal medicine residents throughout your fellowship.
