Geriatrics VA Advanced Fellowship

Basic Program Description

The  Geriatrics VA Advanced Fellowship is co-sponsored by the University of Wisconsin (UW) Department of Medicine and the Geriatric Research Education and Clinical Center (GRECC) at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital. The purpose of this fellowship is to offer post-specialty education to foster the development of leadership in health care issues of the elderly.  The program capitalizes on the international prominence of VA's Geriatric Research, Education and Clinical Center's (GRECC's) to provide outstanding training opportunities in clinical practice, to contribute to the improvement of clinical practice, and to advance scholarly pursuits that will benefit care to elderly veterans and all older American's.  Fellows may be either post residency physicians or from an associated health discipline.  This program shall not lead to board-eligibility in Geriatrics for physicians.

Candidates interested in pursuing an advanced research fellowship must meet certain VA, University and Federal guidelines. Interested individuals are directed to the UW Geriatric Medicine Academic Fellowship program.
