Meet an Alumn: Dr. Navin Pathak
Class of 2026
Where he is now: Dr. Pathak is a hospital medicine attending and clinical informaticist at UW Health, leading projects in EHR implementation and support including clinical documentation, AI delivery, and clinical decision support. He additionally serves as a "data badger" helping clinicians and researchers answer operational and research questions using streamlined data from the EHR.
How our program prepared him:
"The Clinical Informatics Fellowship at UW gave me the opportunity to develop as both a clinical informaticist and a healthcare leader. Through a large-scale implementation of problem-oriented charting across the inpatient system, I worked closely with clinical leaders from medicine, pediatrics, and IT leadership, gaining firsthand experience in change management, stakeholder engagement, and strategic communication.
The fellowship also provided robust training in analytics, helping me build dashboards and leverage data to support operational decision-making and research initiatives. Equally valuable was my experience with informatics governance, where I learned how successful organizations connect operational priorities with informatics expertise to drive sustainable improvements. These skills continue to shape my approach to leading clinical transformation and advancing healthcare delivery."

How our program prepared him:
"My training in the Clinical Informatics program at UW provided a strong foundation in bridging clinical care with data and technology. The program emphasized practical, real-world applications ranging from EHR optimization to data-driven quality improvement, which I use daily.
The faculty were highly supportive and intentional about developing both technical and leadership skills, including how to lead change and drive system-level improvements. I also valued the strong relationships I built with my co-fellows and mentors, which created a lasting sense of community. This experience prepared me to translate complex clinical data into meaningful insights and lead initiatives that improve patient care and workflows."
