Dr. Shivani Garg is a faculty member in the Division of Rheumatology within the Department of Medicine. Dr. Garg is the Founding Director and the Medical Director of Collaborative Lupus and Lupus Nephritis Clinics at UW Health in Madison, WI. In these state-of-the-art clinics, Dr. Garg has developed novel methods to personalize care based on individual patients’ risk factors to advance the health of all patients with lupus and lupus nephritis. Dr. Garg’s research aims to transform care in lupus by delivering precise & personalized care to individual patients. Her work focusses on addressing existing gaps in cardiovascular risk management in lupus and lupus nephritis, detailing strategies to enhance precision dosing informed by target-site and therapeutic drug monitoring in lupus, developing and implementing patient-centered approaches to support shared decision-making around treatment decisions, and outlining steps to mitigate upstream non-biological risk factors to offer comprehensive care plan to improve overall health and survival of all patients living with lupus and lupus nephritis. Dr. Garg has more than 50 peer-reviewed manuscripts in leading journals with more than 1000 citations; her work was selected for Plenary presentations at the National American College of Rheumatology Conferences in 2019 and 2020. Dr. Garg has been recognized with multiple academic and excellence awards for her promising work in lupus and lupus nephritis and her contributions made to advance the field.
