Dr. Sarah Ahrens received her MD from the University of California in San Francisco. She completed her residency in internal medicine at the University of Washington Affiliated Hospitals in Seattle in 2005. After she completed her residency she worked as an Acting Instructor in Emergency Services at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Dr. Ahrens took a break from emergency medicine and worked as a hospitalist for six months at Onslow Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, NC. In January 2007, she returned to Harborview Medical Center and worked in the emergency department until September 2009. From June 2008 to September 2009, she served as the Associate Director of Emergency Services. In October 2009, she returned to Wisconsin and worked as a hospitalist at Aurora Medical Center in Summit, WI. Dr. Ahrens joined the Department of Medicine as a Clinical Assistant Professor in October 2011.
Dr. Ahrens coordinates the sub-I rotation on the hospitalist service. She is actively involved in quality improvement committees regarding topics such as electronic documentation and improving the discharge process.
