Dr. Kari Wisinski is the Endowed Professor of Hematology and Oncology and chief of the Division of Hematology, Medical Oncology and Palliative Care within the Department of Medicine. She is the co-leader of the UW Carbone Cancer Center Breast Cancer Disease-Oriented Team; medical director of solid tumors, Division of Hematology, Medical Oncology and Palliative Care; and vice-chair, Big Ten Cancer Research Consortium Steering Committee. Dr. Wisinski also serves as the deputy editor of Clinical Breast Cancer.
Dr. Wisinski’s clinical interests include breast cancer, medical oncology and tailored screening and risk reduction for patients at high risk of breast cancer. She has won multiple awards in clinical care from UW Health, including the Avatar UW Award for Top Comments from Patients and the UW Ambulatory Patient Experience Award.

Dr. Wisinski’s research focuses primarily on the development and testing of novel treatments for breast cancer, integrating prognostic and predictive biomarkers along with understanding how to administer therapies safely and effectively. This work is supported by the National Institutes of Health-National Cancer Network, UW Carbone Cancer Center, Big Ten Cancer Consortium, and industry.
