In memoriam: Lee L. Schloesser, MD

Lee L. Schloesser, MDWith sadness, the Department of Medicine notes the passing of Lee L. Scholesser, MD, who held a Volunteer Clinical Professor position with the department from 1967 through 2000.

Dr. Scholesser completed his medical residency and fellowship training in hematology at UW-Madison, and spent over 40 years practicing at the Marshfield Clinic as an internist and hematologist. 

Born in Fredonia, Kansas in 1925, Dr. Scholesser completed medical school at the University of Kansas-Lawrence after serving in the United States Navy. He joined the Marshfield Clinic in 1957. 

According to his obituary, Dr. Scholesser served as founding director of the 3rd year clerkship program for students at the University of Wisconsin Medical School (now known as the UW School of Medicine and Public Health). He served as an educator in the medical residency and fellowship programs for decades, providing opportunities for clinical education to students and trainees.
