Finance manager Jeffry Sears announces retirement

Jeffry Sears, MBAThe Department of Medicine sends a fond farewell to Jeffry Sears, MBA upon his retirement. Mr. Sears served as finance manager for the department since 2005, a role in which he managed practice plan finances and physician compensation plan for faculty members and led a team of practice plan accountants.       

“Over the years, Jeff has exemplified professionalism in his stewardship of the financial resources of the department. His skill in accounting is matched by his amiable and warm communication style, and I am incredibly grateful for all he has done for the department,” said Richard Page, MD, George R. and Elaine Love Professor and chair, Department of Medicine.

Prior to arriving at UW-Madison, Mr. Sears was a faculty member of the Department of Business and Economics at the University of Wisconsin-Richland and had led all administrative and academic functions as President of Madison Business College before the institution closed in 1998. He also was a faculty member Iowa State University earlier in his career. 

Mr. Sears earned his bachelor’s degree in English at Harvard University, MA in English at the University of Chicago, and MBA at UW-Madison.

Mr. Sears’ last day with the department was July 7, 2017. The financial services team worked with him for the past two years on a transition plan in anticipation of his departure.
