Dr. Ticiana Leal discusses lung cancer clinical trial

Dr. Ticiana Leal

A story by FOX-47 about an ongoing lung cancer clinical study quoted Ticiana Leal, MD, assistant professor (CHS), Hematology, Medical Oncology and Palliative Care.

The story described a clinical study named Adjuvant Lung Cancer Enrichment Marker Identification and Sequencing Trials (ALCHEMIST).

“Patients are eligible to get their tumor that was removed at the time of the surgery screened for genomic changes that…may predict behavior of that tumor, and that more importantly may predict benefit for certain types of treatment,” explained Dr. Leal.

She also discussed the benefits of low-dose CAT scan for lung cancer screening.

“That has shown on a large-scale randomized trial in the United States to reduce mortality from lung cancer,” said Dr. Leal.
