Two initiatives led by Department of Medicine faculty members have been selected for 2017 Community-University Partnership Awards by the UW-Madison Office of Community Relations, the Community Partnerships and Outreach Staff Network, and the Morgridge Center for Public Service.

The Community-Academic Aging Research Network (CAARN), led by Jane Mahoney, MD (pictured at right), professor, Geratrics and Gerontology, was recognized for its facilitation of studies aimed at improving the health of Wisconsin’s older adults. CAARN brings together academic researchers and community partners to conduct clinical trials and dissemination research related to healthy aging.

An additional award recognized the partnership between the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center and the community-based Adams County Cancer Awareness Team to create a cancer prevention intervention called Cancer Clear & Simple, led by Elizabeth Jacobs, MD, MAPP (pictured at far right), professor, General Internal Medicine.
