Lynn M. Schnapp, MD, department chair and George R. and Elaine Love Professor, received the American Thoracic Society's (ATS) Distinguished Achievement Award at the 2025 ATS Respiratory Health Awards ceremony last week in San Francisco.

The prestigious award celebrates her substantial, career-spanning contributions to advancing respiratory health and the mission of ATS.

Dr. Schnapp is internationally recognized for her work in lung injury and repair, and as a leader in mentorship, career development, and efforts to foster diversity, equity, and inclusion in pulmonary and critical care medicine.

She has also served in numerous leadership positions in the American Thoracic Society, including past president.

“ATS has been part of my life since I was a fellow,” Dr. Schnapp says. “ATS helped me grow — not just as a physician and scientist, but as a person. I’ve built friendships and found meaning here that will last a lifetime. I’m grateful, and honestly just so proud to be part of this community.”
