Optimizing Outpatient Antibiotic Therapy for Rural Wisconsin Patients
This research aims to improve outpatient parenteral therapy (OPAT) antibiotic delivery for rural Wisconsin patients by building on the existing telemedicine-based care to improve coordination and reduce the risk of poor outcomes resulting from fragmented care. The goal is to reduce avoidable hospital readmissions, improve treatment outcomes, and make it easier for rural patients to receive high-quality care closer to home.
Effect of pre-admission residence on readmission risk
This IRB-approved study examines how social support, measured using area deprivation, influences hospital readmission among patients discharged to skilled nursing facilities while on OPAT. The findings will help identify patients at higher risk of readmission and inform strategies to improve care and outcomes.
