The division of Hematology and Medical Oncology provides innovative patient care to people from a wide variety of locations and ethnic diversities.
Our medical oncologists specialize in diagnosing and treating cancer using chemotherapy, hormonal therapy, biological therapy, and targeted therapy. Our faculty are often the main health care provider for someone who has cancer. We also give supportive care and may coordinate treatment given by other specialists.
Our hematologists focus on the treatment of hematologic malignancies, including acute and chronic leukemia, myeloma and lymphoma. Hematologists also treat patients with myelodysplastic syndromes and a variety of other bone marrow disorders, including blood coagulation, platelets, red blood cells and white blood cells.
In addition to the core Hematology and Oncology clinics at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and 1 South Park Street in Madison, our physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants also provide care to patients at Beaver Dam, Johnson Creek, Monroe, Mauston, Portage, Reedsburg, Richland Center, and Sauk Prairie. Our division is strongly committed to the training in and conduct of clinical and basic science research as well as to developing outstanding future oncologists and hematologists.
