Inclusive Sexual Health History Taking in the Primary Care Setting

Health disparities faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) people are often theresult of inadequate access to health care as well as insufficient provider training. Taking an inclusive sexualhealth history from patients of all sexual orientations and gender identities supports their care and canimprove health outcomes, whether they have HIV or are striving to prevent it's acquisition. Participate in thisinteractive program which emphasizes the knowledge and skills primary care providers need to take athorough and affirming sexual health history. Join this virtual program to improve your ability to provide compassionate, non-judgmental care for your LGBTQ+ patients. Learning Outcomes: As a result of attending this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Explain gender and sexual orientation terminology, its variety, and continued evolution. 
  2. Outline the importance of inclusive sexual health history intake especially when providing care for people with HIV or at risk of acquiring HIV. 
  3. Model skills for taking a thorough and affirming sexual history for patients of all sexualities and genders. 
  4. Apply gender and sexuality-inclusive sexual history intake skills in clinical cases.
