Dr. Ellis is a health services researcher and implementation scientist dedicated to designing evidence-based strategies to address healthcare variation in community practice settings. She has expertise in quantitative and qualitative methodologies and decades of experience assessing behavioral determinants to design effective and efficient implementation strategies.

A portion of her research has centered on engaging cancer specialists (R01CA274560, P20GM130423(8881), HHSN261201800642P) to explore factors associated with evidence-based care and develop interventions to support quality improvement in community practice. She is past principal investigator of an NIGMS-funded study Precision Community to identify determinants of community oncologists’ use of targeted cancer treatment (P20GM130423(8881), which led to the team-based implementation intervention TEAMSPORT, which tests the effectiveness of support for precision oncology reflex testing (R01CA274560) on guideline-based genomic testing for breast, lung, pancreatic and colorectal cancer.
