Nationally recognized programs that improve lives
Advanced allergy and asthma treatment and research
Division faculty provide definitive diagnostic testing and treatments for all types of allergy and asthma disorders, including immunodeficiency disorders and severe and corticosteroid-dependent asthma. Our nationally known clinical research team has conducted over 400 asthma studies, and our faculty help develop new asthma medications and clinical treatment guidelines.
Top-ranked for pulmonary medicine
U.S. News and World Report ranks UW Health pulmonary and lung surgery among the highest performing programs in the nation. We have deep expertise in advanced lung disease and interventional pulmonology, provide medical care for patients in UW Health's growing lung transplant program, and are partners in its multidisciplinary lung cancer program and collaborative Wisconsin Sleep Center. Our cystic fibrosis center and pulmonary hypertension and pulmonary fibrosis programs are all nationally accredited.
Critical care that exceeds national standards
We care for critically ill patients at University Hospital’s Trauma and Life Support Center, a high-acuity unit that consistently surpasses national quality and outcomes benchmarks, and at UnityPoint Health–Meriter Hospital and the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital. In addition, we provide telemedicine critical care services (eICU) 24/7 to hospitals across the region.
