Professional Activities

Dr. Houghan's professional areas of focus is on teaching medical students and resident physicians both in the classroom and at the bedside. He teaches learners on the principles of primary care and point-of-care ultrasound.

Clinical Specialties

Dr. Houghan is interested in the prevention and management of complex acute and chronic conditions in adult patients. 

Research Interests

Dr. Houghan's research interest is in the education and implementation of point-of-care ultrasound in outpatient general internal medicine practice. His current investigations focus on how to best teach residents to obtain these skills for future practice and on how this may change patient satisfaction.
