Professional Activities

Dr. Bartho Caponi is a faculty member in the Division of Hospital Medicine within the Department of Medicine. An award-winning clinician and teacher, Dr. Caponi is active on the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics inpatient teaching services and Hospital Medicine services and serves as medical director for Utilization Management. He chairs the UW Health Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and UW Health Utilization Management Committee and represents the Department of Medicine on the Medical Board and the Council of Faculty. He has received the UW Health Clinical Practice Excellence Award for Leadership, Division of Hospital Medicine awards for teaching and practice excellence, and has appeared twice in Madison Magazine’s list of “Top Docs.”

Dr. Caponi’s clinical specialty is hospital medicine, with special interests in quality improvement, patient safety, and utilization management.
