Professional Activities

Kerstin “Kerri” Austin, MD is a faculty member in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology within the Department of Medicine and is the associate program director of the Gastroenterology Fellowship. As a clinical gastroenterologist, Dr. Austin cares for people living with a wide range of diseases and disorders of the gastrointestinal tract. Dr. Austin was selected for membership in the Gold Humanism Honor Society. She has received the David Wissler Memorial Research Award for clinical research in gastroenterology. Dr. Austin has conducted quality improvement projects in endoscopy procedures, and investigated methods for preventing endoscopy-related injuries among gastroenterology fellows. Dr. Austin provides classroom and clinical instruction on a variety of gastroenterology topics to medical students, residents, and fellows. She serves as a volunteer physician for the Benevolent Specialist Program.

Clinical Specialties

Dr. Austin’s clinical interests include general gastroenterology with a focus on nutrition-related disease and intestinal failure.
