Professional Activities

Dr. Peter Kleinschmidt is a faculty member in the Division of General Internal Medicine within the Department of Medicine. As an internist dedicated to primary care medicine, Dr. Kleinschmidt practices in the ambulatory setting to treat adults for a variety of diseases and disorders and to provide preventive care. As a medical educator, Dr. Kleinschmidt precepts medical students and residents, and he teaches several undergraduate medical education courses in topics related to clinical informatics.

He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and a member of the Society of General Internal Medicine and the American Medical Informatics Association. He has received multiple awards for clinical service and education, including the Department of Medicine Inspirational Educator award in 2025 and the Division of General Internal Medicine Remarkable Achievement Award in 2024, both recognizing his work in developing clinical informatics curricula at the undergraduate and graduate medical levels.
