Professional Activities

Dr. Ann Sheehy is a faculty member and division chief of the Division of Hospital Medicine within the Department of Medicine. Dr. Sheehy is a Society of Hospital Medicine Senior Fellow and serves on their national Public Policy committee. She is the immediate past president of the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics (UWHC) Medical Board and currently serves on the UW Athletic Board and as University of Wisconsin Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) to the Big Ten and NCAA. Dr. Sheehy has a background in academic medicine with emphasis on policy research in the area of short-stay hospitalizations and health disparities. She is certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine with a Focused Practice in Hospital Medicine.

Dr. Sheehy has been named to Madison Magazine’s Top Doctors list multiple times. She is a two-time recipient of the Evans-Glassroth Department of Medicine Inpatient Teacher of the Year Award and has also been awarded the Department of Medicine Grossman Professionalism Award.

Clinical Specialties

Dr. Sheehy’s clinical interests include general internal medicine.

Research Interests

Dr. Sheehy conducts health policy research in the area of short-stay hospitalizations, Medicare payment policy, and outpatient observation hospital care.
