Clinical and Research Interests
Dr. Runo has been a faculty member since 2004 and attends on the Advanced Pulmonary Service, Inpatient Pulmonary Consultation Service, and the Intensive Care Unit (TLC) Service. His special interests comprise diseases affecting the pulmonary circulation including pulmonary hypertension, pulmonary embolism and pulmonary arteriovenous malformations.
Dr. Runo has established a Pulmonary Hypertension Clinic that focuses on a comprehensive treatment approach to patients with this rare disease. All current therapies for pulmonary arterial hypertension are available including prostacyclin infusions. Dr. Runo also participates in clinical trials using new agents for the treatment of pulmonary hypertension.
Dr. Runo collaborates with UW colleagues in Cardiology, Rheumatology, Pediatrics, Hepatology, Hematology and Lung Transplantation for the management of patient care. He is the Coordinator for Education of Pulmonary and Critical Care and the Director of the Pulmonary Clinic.
