CLINICAL SCIENCE CENTERDr. Paul Hinderaker is a faculty member in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine within the Department of Medicine. With nearly 40 years of clinical practice, Dr. Hinderaker provides cardiovascular care through cardiac catheter diagnostic and coronary interventional procedures, as well acute and chronic longitudinal management in both inpatient and outpatient settings. His early focus on coronary artery disease (CAD) and specialization in coronary interventions meant that he instrumental in the development and advancement of the interventional program at Meriter Hospital, where he serves as Chair of Cardiology. More recently, Dr. Hinderaker’s focus has shifted to the preventative and early treatment of CAD as opposed to the often invasive, but life-saving, methods of an interventionalist. Dr. Hinderaker is a member of the American Heart Association, the Dane County Medical Society, and the Wisconsin State Medical Society.
As an interventional cardiologist, Dr. Hinderaker’s clinical interests focus on the catheter-based treatment of structural heart diseases. Cardiac catheterization, either for angioplasty or angiogram, allows for the avoidance of the scars and pain, and long post-operative recovery that have been associated with previous forms of cardiovascular surgeries.
Dr. Hinderaker is actively involved in clinical trials for a wide range of cardiovascular diseases.
