A vital aid effort from 5,000 miles away

Ukrainian-born Nataliya Uboha, MD, PhD, associate professor (right), Hematology, Medical Oncology and Palliative Care, was relieved her own family safely evacuated Ukraine when Russian forces invaded. But as they've watched the destruction continue to unfold, she and her husband have worked to find ways to support those who stayed behind.

Over the past several months, they have helped fundraise, source and organize medical supply donations as part of the Illinois Chapter of Ukrainian Medical Association of North America.

“We have now shipped four cargo planes of supplies to Ukraine,” said Dr. Uboha.
