What is your primary professional focus in any or all of our mission areas (clinical, research, and/or medical education)?
In addition to striving for excellence in clinical care, my professional focus is in medical education at the undergraduate medical and graduate levels. Specifically, I am interested in curriculum development for simulation-based learning.

What drew you to UW-Madison and the Department of Medicine?
I grew up in Wisconsin and treasured my time as a medical student on the medicine and critical care services at UW. I am delighted to return to Madison to give back to the community that helped shape me into the physician I am today.

What are you most excited about during your first year with the department in this role?
In my first year, I am most excited to teach medical students and residents on the wards and further develop my skills as a clinician and educator.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and traveling. I also enjoy training my golden retriever puppy, baking, and knitting.

Favorite piece of advice from a mentor or inspiring figure in your life?
I was taught to never lose the intellectual curiosity that initially drew me to medicine. Always ask why – why this patient? Why now? This helps me to understand and care for my patients on a deeper level, taking into account both social determinants of health as well as the pathophysiologic mechanisms of disease.
