Matthew Tattersall, DO, assistant professor (CHS), Cardiovascular Medicine, was featured in an article for Physician’s Weekly about the interconnections between asthma and cardiovascular disease.
Dr. Tattersall led a research study that investigated whether late-onset asthma is associated with a higher risk of incident cardiovascular disease (CVD).
“Our study showed that patients with late-onset asthma were nearly 60% more likely than those without asthma to experience a CVD event, such as a heart attack, stroke, heart failure, angina, and/or cardiovascular-related death,” he said.
