Dr. Shobhina Chheda appointed as Associate Dean for Medical Education

Shobhina G. Chheda, MD, MPH, professor (CHS), General Internal Medicine, has been promoted to Associate Dean for Medical Education after having served as the Assistant Dean of Medical Education since 2015. 

In this role, she leads the overall development, management and assessment of the MD curriculum, including the design and implementation of the new ForWard curriculum. Launched in 2016, this curriculum focuses on integrated and developmental learning for medical students. More than 35 faculty members serve as Longitudinal Teacher Coaches in the ForWard curriculum, guiding medical students as they establish a foundation for lifelong learning skills through self-directed learning.  

Dr. Chhedha  has been a leader in medical education locally and nationally. She has received the School of Medicine and Public Health’s Dean Teaching Award and the Department of Medicine Schilling-Harkness Teaching Award. She was founding member of the national Society of General Internal Medicine (SGIM) TEACH program for faculty development.

Honors awarded to Dr. Chhedha include Clinician Educator of the Year Award from the Midwest Society of General Internal Medicine, and election as president for the national Alliance of Academic Internal Medicine/Clerkship Directors in Internal Medicine.

Dr. Chheda is also currently co-Principal Investigator on a three-year, $2.5M grant from the Wisconsin Partnership Program entitled "Transforming Medical Education 3.0: Moving Medical Education ForWard," which has supported this innovation.
