What is your primary professional focus as it relates to our mission areas (clinical, research and/or medical education)?
My primary professional focus is basic and translational research. I have a longstanding interest in developing novel molecular imaging tools to address urgent clinical needs. My current work centers on developing innovative diagnostic and disease monitoring tools for lung diseases, particularly lung fibrosis.

What drew you to UW–Madison and the Department of Medicine?
The incredible people! The Department of Medicine and UW-Madison as a whole have a truly collaborative and supportive spirit. That culture of teamwork and innovation makes it no surprise that we are at the forefront of cutting-edge research.

What are you most excited about during your first year with the department in this role?
I have been fortunate to build some exciting collaborations during my first year. It has also been deeply rewarding to assemble my research team and see everyone bring their unique strengths to the table as we work toward a shared goal.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
I love spending time with my family. We enjoy being outdoors year-round, playing sports and board games. I also love cooking and am still riding the pandemic sourdough wave.

Favorite piece of advice from a mentor or inspiring figure in your life?
I have found that my mentors’ actions have spoken louder than their words. Their calm and steady leadership during tumultuous times has been truly inspiring.
