What is your primary professional focus as it relates to our mission areas (clinical, research and/or medical education)?
Clinical care is my primary area of interest. Working closely with patients, assisting them in managing their conditions, and ensuring they comprehend their treatment plan is something I enjoy. I also appreciate teaching medical students and residents by passing on what I've learned throughout the years.
What drew you to UW–Madison and the Department of Medicine?
UW–Madison has a strong reputation for both patient care and research. I was also struck by the sense of camaraderie here—people sincerely help one another and collaborate to advance medicine. In addition, Madison is a fantastic city to live in if you enjoy the great outdoors.
What are you most excited about during your first year with the department in this role?
I'm excited to meet new colleagues, work with trainees, and learn from the incredible people here. Every day is a chance to get better at what I do and to contribute to a team that truly cares about its patients.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
I love biking. It's my favorite way to stay active and unwind after a long week. I also enjoy spending time with my wife and our three kids and relaxing together as a family.
Favorite piece of advice from a mentor or inspiring figure in your life?
A mentor once told me, “Treat every patient like family and you'll never go wrong.” That stuck with me. It's straightforward, but it serves as a reminder that people come first in medicine.
