Brandon Temte, DO

Assistant Professor
Allergy, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine

What is your primary professional focus as it relates to our mission areas (clinical, research and/or medical education)?
My primary clinical focus is pulmonary and critical care medicine both at the University Hospital and the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans' Hospital (Madison VA). I am also involved in medical education for the medical students, residents, and fellows with a special interest in simulation training. My research is in data science trying to improve outcomes for patients hospitalized with respiratory failure.

What drew you to UW–Madison and the Department of Medicine?
I completed fellowship at UW and loved the people and the culture of the division. The opportunity to make a difference in my home state is a dream come true.

What are you most excited about during your first year with the department in this role?
I’m excited to see what the possibilities are. UW has many opportunities for those looking to seek them out.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
I enjoy spending time outside: biking, camping, snowboarding, and golfing.

Favorite piece of advice from a mentor or inspiring figure in your life?
My favorite piece of advice is to enjoy the journey that you are on and never focus too hard on the finish line, or you’ll miss the opportunity to be always present.
