Jeanette Liou, MD

Clinical Assistant Professor
Hospital Medicine

What is your primary professional focus as it relates to our mission areas (clinical, research and/or medical education)?
My primary professional focus as a hospitalist is to provide exceptional patient care while helping train and mentor the next generation of physicians through my work with medical students and residents.

What drew you to UW–Madison and the Department of Medicine?
I completed both my internal medicine residency and chief year in internal medicine here at UW. During these four years, I have had the opportunity to work amongst amazing faculty and have loved my time in Madison. I couldn't imagine a better place to start the beginning of my career as an academic hospitalist!

What are you most excited about during your first year with the department in this role?
During my first year as a hospitalist, I am most looking forward to taking care of patients and working with learners in all stages of their training.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
When I'm not working, I love to travel and spend time outdoors. This summer before I started my hospitalist position here at UW, I spent five weeks traveling in Australia and New Zealand and I love being able to experience new places, cuisines, and cultures.

Favorite piece of advice from a mentor or inspiring figure in your life?
My favorite piece of advice from a mentor is to always stay curious and to never stop learning. I find myself constantly learning new things every day from people from all walks of life!
