Get to know Dr. Devon Miller
Devon Miller, MD
Clinical Assistant Professor
Hematology, Medical Oncology and Palliative Care
What is your primary professional focus as it relates to our mission areas (clinical, research and/or medical education)?
I am primarily clinical and am a generalist in hematology and oncology. While I see both solid organ cancers and patients with benign hematologic issues, I have special focus in melanoma and GI cancers. I am also very passionate about medical education and look forward to working with medical students, residents, and fellows!
What drew you to UW–Madison and the Department of Medicine?
I came to UW–Madison for college in 2011 and have remained here for medical school, residency, and fellowship. I love the collaborative spirit of our DOM with all general and medical subspecialists working together to do what is best for the patient. Growing up, my aunt received a liver transplant here so my initial interest in medicine started because of UW.
What are you most excited about during your first year with the department in this role?
I'm most excited for getting to know my patients to help give them the best individual guidance through their cancer journey and working with the incredible team we have both within and outside of the Department of Medicine.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
When not at work I enjoy running the many trails of Madison, enjoying the incredible restaurants here with my wife, and cheering on Badger athletics.
Favorite piece of advice from a mentor or inspiring figure in your life?
Even if you fall flat on your face, you're still moving forward.
