Meet Dr. Jessica Comerford, chief resident
Q&A with the 2025-26 chief residents

Jessica Comerford, MD
Trowbridge Endowed General Internal Medicine Chief Resident
Medical school: University of Washington School of Medicine
What does being a chief resident mean to you?
Being a chief resident means not only having the opportunity to reflect on all the skills I've developed in residency, but also a chance to build on those skills while developing new ones.
My hope is that I can use my knowledge to help teach residents and advocate for them. I'm also excited to further my own professional development.

What are you most looking forward to as chief?
I'm most looking forward to the growth that will occur. In the moment, I'm sure it will be stressful but by the end of the year, I'm sure I will see improvement in my leadership, educational, and clinical skills.
What’s your favorite part of the UW internal medicine residency?
My favorite part of the residency is that, from the top down, we have residents and faculty who are not only stellar clinicians but also some of the most genuinely caring people I've met.
