Dr. Zachary Goldberger to lead the new DOM Cross-Fellowship Curriculum

Dr. Goldberger

Zachary Goldberger, MD, MS, professor, Cardiovascular Medicine, has been named the department's first Director of Cross-Fellowship Curriculum.

An experienced and well-respected educator, Dr. Goldberger engages in formal teaching of medical students, residents and cardiology fellows, and has received several teaching awards. He is also the program director of the University of Wisconsin Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship.

In this new role, he will lead the development and implementation of a shared cross-fellowship curriculum focused on foundational professional, career, and leadership skills for all fellows.

“The idea is to develop a curriculum, as well as leverage the talks and activities that DOM fellowships have and bring them to the full group,” he explains.

Working collaboratively with program directors, faculty, and fellows, Dr. Goldberger will oversee curriculum design, integration of existing educational resources, and the creation of sustainable structures to support ongoing cross-fellowship learning.

I’m really excited about the opportunities for fellows to learn about topics that are of parallel value to what they learn clinically.

Another advantage, he notes, is the opportunities for fellows from different specialties to interact with each other, which often doesn’t happen organically.

The new curriculum will be held in person on a quarterly basis, with the inaugural session held at the beginning of new fellow orientation this summer.
