Professional Activities

Dr. Brandon Temte is a member of the division of Allergy, Pulmonary, and Critical Care within the Department of Medicine. His primary area of focus is clinical care, research, and medical education around patients hospitalized with respiratory failure. During training and after, he has received numerous teaching awards and served as both Chief Resident and Chief Fellow. He also teaches at the medical school, develops curriculum for residents and fellows, and serves on the Trainee Work Group through Chest. He currently works with the UW Data Science Lab on predictive modeling for patients hospitalized with respiratory failure.

Clinical Specialties

Dr. Temte's clinical work focuses on patients hospitalized with respiratory failure and critical illness. When on inpatient rotations, he works as an attending on pulmonary consults, procedure service, and intensive care in the Trauma and Life Support Center (TLC). He also works at the VA Medical Center in the division of pulmonary and critical care.

Research Interests

Dr. Temte works in the UW Data Science lab under the direction of Dr. Matthew Churpek. He has previously published research utilizing electronic health record data to create novel machine learning models to identify patients at high risk of failure of both high flow nasal cannula and bi-level non-invasive positive pressure ventilation. He continues to focus on issues and problems affecting patients hospitalized with respiratory failure.
