As the associate director of faculty affairs in the Department of Medicine, Dr. Abbie Salcedo provides comprehensive leadership over human resources, faculty affairs and development, quality improvement, and facilities management in support of the department’s clinical, educational, research, and outreach missions.
Dr. Salcedo’s executive leadership is grounded in a collaborative, systems-focused approach. She specializes in strengthening institutional processes, cultivating high-performing teams, and designing faculty-centered initiatives that align with organizational goals. Her leadership philosophy emphasizes operational excellence, equitable structures, and mission-aligned innovation. Notable achievements include increasing faculty retention rates, enhancing professional development opportunities, and streamlining performance evaluation processes to promote transparency and inclusivity.
In addition to her administrative responsibilities, Dr. Salcedo is committed to mentoring students, collaborating with fellow scholars, and contributing to the advancement of inclusive practices in higher education and healthcare leadership. As an active member of several professional associations, including the American Association for Adult and Continuing Education (AAACE), the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), and the American Association of University Professors (AAUP), Dr. Salcedo collaborates closely with interdisciplinary teams and external stakeholders to develop sustainable, innovative solutions that advance faculty development, diversity and well-being across institutions.
Dr. Salcedo’s research explores equity in the workplace, racial justice in academic settings, and the role of organizational culture in shaping faculty experiences. She has authored multiple peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters and frequently presents on topics related to race, inclusion, and professional development.
As assistant editor of New Horizons in Adult Education and Human Resource Development, Dr. Salcedo supports the dissemination of critical scholarship at the intersection of adult learning, workforce development, and human resources.
She is currently leading a research initiative on the intersection of racial equity and academic leadership practices, focusing on cultivating inclusive leadership pipelines in higher education.
