Professional Activities

Dr. Gabriel Moreno is a faculty member in the Division of Hospital Medicine within the Department of Medicine. Dr. Moreno’s academic focus centers on medical education, clinical simulation, and health equity. Supported by a Medical Education Innovation Grant, he co-designed and implemented a role-reversal and standardized patient simulation curriculum aimed at teaching residents effective communication practices with limited English proficiency (LEP) patients. 

In recognition of his academic commitments during his internal medicine residency, he earned distinctions in both the Teach and Health Equity pathways, as well as a dissemination in Medical Education.  A dedicated educator and advocate, Dr. Moreno actively mentors and instructs medical students at the UW School of Medicine and Public Health. He serves as a preceptor for acute care small groups, clinical skills workshops, and mock code status scenarios. His commitment to health equity extends to community service, where he volunteers his time staffing patients alongside medical students at the MEDiC free clinic.
