Professional Activities

Dr. Miller is an internist with UW Health and a faculty member in Division of General Internal Medicine within the Department of Medicine. She is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, the American College of Physicians, and the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine. Honors bestowed upon Dr. Miller include the Sobby Mathew Award, which recognizes an intern who is hard-working, open-minded, supportive, and selfless and who demonstrates compassion and a caring attitude for her or his patients; the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society; the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine Community Award; and the Herman and Gwen Shapiro Excellence in Student Research Award. While an undergraduate at UW-Madison, Dr. Miller rowed on the Big Ten Athletic Conference 1st All Conference Team and was a member of the U.S. Rowing 1st Team All American. Prior to medical school, Dr. Miller competed at several national and international championship regattas as an elite athlete at the US Rowing Olympic Training Center in Princeton, New Jersey. During this time she was also a research internal the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

In the area of medical education, Dr. Miller has completed a Teachers Master Program at UW-Madison, served as a clinical preceptor in Sports Medicine, and participated in the University of Wisconsin General Internal Medicine Clinician Teacher Program. She previously served as instructor in the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital's nutrition and exercise program, as an instructor in the Patient, Doctor and Society course for UW School of Medicine and Public Health medical students, and as a small group instructor for a cardiology course. Dr. Miller serves on the education committee for General Internal Medicine. She has served as a physician volunteer for area high school football teams and sporting events.

Clinical Specialties

Dr. Miller's clinical interests include sports medicine, internal medicine, and cardiovascular life support. She serves as a physician leader for the UW Health Center for Clinical Knowledge Management, focusing on Adult Osteoarthritis Ambulatory Treatment Guidelines. She has presented clinical talks on topics including pregnancy and competitive athletics, athlete overtraining, COPD, cardiac conditions in athletes, hip pain and high interval training, clinical management of hip and knee osteoarthritis, and concussions in athletes. Dr. Miller serves as medical director of a UW Health non-operative knee and hip osteoarthritis clinic.

Research Interests

Dr. Miller's areas of research include sports medicine, diabetes and obesity, and osteoarthritis.
