Professional Activities

Sally is a health services research and evaluation scientist in the Department of Medicine and an affiliate faculty member in the University of Wisconsin Master of Public Health program. Sally manages the research program of Chris Crnich, MD, PhD, and directs qualitative and mixed methods analyses. She has held a dual appointment at the William S Middleton VA since 2014. She is a co-author and co-investigator on a multi-phase mixed-methods human factors engineering study evaluating Prospective Reviews to Improve antibiotic Decision-making in Long-Term Care (PRIDE) and a Department of Health Services-funded work systems evaluation of antibiotic information systems in Wisconsin nursing homes (RAISIN). She is also conducting an explanatory mixed-methods study of antibiotic use and quality of life among Ehlers-Danlos syndromes and Hypermobility spectrum disorders patients.

Sally's work focuses on identifying barriers and facilitators to receiving health care among vulnerable and underserved populations, and analyzing educational resources at the patient, provider, and systems levels to develop interventions that target barriers to care. Her current research focuses on veterans, nursing home residents, and patients with Ehlers-Danlos syndromes (EDS) and Hypermobility spectrum disorders (HSD).
