Professional Activities

Dr. Liana Eskola is a faculty member in the Division of Hematology, Medical Oncology and Palliative Care within the Department of Medicine. She is an associate program director of the University of Wisconsin (UW) Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship, and serves as the fellowship site director at the William S. Middleton VA Hospital. She also directs the fellowship's Narrative Medicine program. 

Her academic interests include medical humanities, simulation-based communication training and clinician well-being. She is a founding board member of the UW Collaborative for Humanism, Arts, and Storytelling in Medicine (CHASM) and a poet.

Clinical Specialties

Dr. Eskola’s clinical interests include inpatient and outpatient palliative medicine, quality of life and medical decision-making for people with heart failure, palliative care for adults with congenital heart disease, and care of veterans nearing end-of-life.
