Dr. Bracamonte conducted translational research in the field of cardiac autoimmunity and transplant immunology while pursuing a PhD at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a post-doctorate degree at Johns Hopkins University. While there, his work was supported by grants from the American Heart Association (AHA) and the American Autoimmune Related Disease Association (AARDA), leading to findings regarding the tolerogenic impact of exosomes, unique properties of cardiac innate lymphoid cells, as well as the role of stromal expression of immune checkpoint ligands. His current work is focused on the immunopathogenesis of cancer immunotherapy side effects, collectively called immune-related adverse events (irAE).
