Professional Activities

Dr. Vidthya Abraham is a faculty member in the Division of General Internal Medicine within the Department of Medicine. As an internist dedicated to primary care medicine, Dr. Abraham practices in both ambulatory and inpatient settings to treat adult for a variety of diseases and disorders and to provide preventive care. As a medical educator, Dr. Abraham served as chief resident and as a clinical instructor to residents, and co-founded the Internal Medicine Wellness Committee. She has also provided continuing medical education lectures on topics including pre-exposure prophylaxis for HIV, community-based lifestyle programs for diabetes management, and caring for transgender patients, and has presented talks at national medical conferences about initiation and administration of primary care residency training programs. She is a member of the American College of Physicians, the Society of General Internal Medicine, and the Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine. She was selected for the Larry Crocker, MD Generalism Award for Outstanding Generalist Resident, which is awarded by the Division of General Internal Medicine to a third-year internal medicine resident who has demonstrated outstanding commitment to the practice of general medicine. She is a volunteer physician with student-run MEDiC clinics to provide medical care to people facing homelessness and housing insecurity.

Clinical Specialties

Dr. Abraham’s clinical interests include internal medicine, gynecological and contraceptive services, management of conditions including respiratory infections, diabetes, obesity, and high blood pressure, and preventive care including immunization and prevention of heart disease.
