The Department of Medicine website and intranet are separate from SMPH and UW Health.

  • Our public website is aimed at academic audiences and is a marketing tool for prospective learners, faculty and staff, researchers and donors.
  • Our intranet is an operational tool to help department personnel do their jobs.

The communications team manages these sites in collaboration with content partners. A content partner is anyone who creates or is responsible for website text, images or videos.

Personal Data

Your preferred name, degree (master’s and above only), title, division and contact information are automatically pulled from campus HR databases.

For questions or updates, contact your HR business partner.

Bio Narrative

Submit or update your bio narrative. Plan on reviewing your bio yearly for accuracy.

Headshot

Schedule your headshot and approve your portrait right after it’s taken. We upload headshots to the website in batches every one to two weeks.

We cannot accept selfies. If you work fully remotely outside the region, follow our headshot standards to self-submit a photo for approval.

Plan on getting a new headshot at least every five years.

Please do not create lab websites using external web hosts or site builders. These sites do not meet campus or department branding and accessibility requirements.

Criteria:

  • Have currently funded research (as a PI, co-I or part of team science) or be successful in philanthropy
  • Not currently funded, but between grants or has actively been applying in the past 3 years
  • Not currently funded, but building career and has a clear, defined business purpose for the page

Options:

  1. A single, structured page on the DOM website. Fill out the lab page template and email to the Comms team.
  2. A standalone website through the campus WiscWeb service. You are responsible for all maintenance. Also fill out this shortened lab page template, so we can include a page and link out on the DOM site.

Events

The intranet calendar is a central space where DOM divisions and groups can share events that are of department-wide interest. A handful of people in the department have rights to submit and edit events on behalf of their division or administrative area.
