Divisions, labs and programs part of SMPH need to have their social media accounts approved by and registered with the SMPH and DOM communications teams.
Unauthorized or inactive accounts may be closed.
If you have news or a content idea you think would be a good fit for sharing on DOM social accounts, submit it with this form.

- Connect with the comms team to propose a content plan for a one-day "takeover" of the department accounts.
- Set up a meeting with the comms team, and we can consult about your bigger needs.
Steps for starting an institutional account
- Complete the DOM social media request form, including 12 example posts. These are things SMPH requires to approve your account.
- The DOM communications team will review your submission to help give you the best path for account approval from SMPH. We will reach out to discuss adjustments needed.
- Submit your request to SMPH for approval.
- If approved, open a new account on the chosen platform and provide log-in information to the DOM communications team.
- Account handle: should start with “@uw_” (e.g. @uw_medicine)
- Account name: should start with “UW Division of” (e.g. UW Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology)
- Profile picture: must use this avatar, per SMPH
- Bio narrative: should be something like “Official account of the University of Wisconsin Division of Allergy, Pulmonary and Critical Care. Part of the UW Department of Medicine and School of Medicine and Public Health.”
- Start posting content that aligns with your goals, at least once per week. Monitor notifications frequently and notify the DOM communications team of any problematic interactions; do not respond or hide/delete comments without guidance.
- The DOM communications team will reach out to set up a 6-month check in to review how things are going, and afterwards will meet yearly to check in.
