Objectives

  • To provide NIH-style reviews of the General Research and Team Science Pilots with prioritization and summary statements that will be shared with the study teams for constructive feedback to enhance future proposals.
  • To help convene ad hoc, pre-submission review teams to help improve extramural career development (e.g. K08/K23) and first independent (e.g. New Investigator R01) proposals. This could include enlisting content expertise from reviewers not serving a regular term on the DOM Study Section.
  • To conduct an internal review and make recommendations to the Research Council regarding internal and external funding proposals that limit the number of applicants for each Department, School or Institution.
  • To provide feedback and recommendations to the Research Council regarding the development of research policies and procedures, Pilot initiatives and prioritization of funding applications.
  • To support the department's annual Research Day by serving as poster session judges the day of the event, or recruiting delegates as needed.

Meetings: Two-hour virtual meetings occur two times per year, usually in April and November. Occasionally, a one-hour ad hoc meeting is scheduled.
