Peer observation of teaching is a valuable source of feedback to faculty. It can promote a dialog between the observer and teacher with a resultant increase in quality of teaching and learning.  In some cases, peer evaluation is a necessary component of the promotion portfolio.

The Department of Medicine Education Committee developed these checklists for all teachers, using both the current literature and other validated forms.
