T32 Training Grants
The Department of Medicine recognizes the importance of research interest-focused training and is proud to offer world-class research training opportunities to our members. Training grant programs are available both to predoctoral graduate students and postdoctoral researchers planning to pursue careers as independent researchers.
Shapiro Summer Research Program
Hosted annually by the UW School of Medicine and Public Health, this program allows medical students to play an active, full-time role in a research project with mentorship by department faculty.
Resident and Fellow Research Projects
The Department of Medicine hosts a Resident and Fellow Research Projects list to boost research opportunities and productivity, serving as a searchable database for ongoing projects and potential collaborations. Faculty and trainees are welcome to add projects year-round.
MATRIX Mentoring Program
Mentoring to Achieve Research Independence (MATRIX) is an intensive 9-month faculty mentoring program coordinated by the School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH) and designed to help all UW–Madison faculty members (mentees) successfully land their first National Institute of Health (NIH) R01 Research Project Grant or equivalent.
