The Trauma and Life Support Center (TLC) is a unique, high-acuity, intensive care unit known for consistently surpassing national leading benchmarks in patient care quality and outcomes. The TLC is staffed by both medical and surgical trained intensivist teams (the Critical Care Service and the Surgical Critical Care Service).
The Critical Care Service (CCS) combines residents, fellows, nurse practitioners and faculty from a variety of disciplines. It is one of the few such collaborative services throughout the country caring for patients with both medical and surgical critical illness. Given the dynamic and challenging nature of the CCS, this website was developed to serve as an introduction and learning resource for our rotating students, residents, and fellows. We encourage you to learn from each other and to appreciate the perspective and expertise each of our distinct disciplines brings.
The TLC is proud to be a truly multidisciplinary unit. Our great outcomes are only possible because of the collaborative model among the many disciplines; medicine, anesthesia, infectious disease, surgery, nursing, respiratory care, pharmacy, nutrition, physical and occupational therapy, speech therapy, and social work. We know you will receive excellent guidance and education from working with all.
