Professional Activities

Dr. Thomas Shiffler is a faculty member of the Division of General Internal Medicine within the Department of Medicine. He is a member of the American Medical Association and the Society of General Internal Medicine, and is a fellow of the American College of Physicians. Dr. Shiffler is the recipient of the 2018 Department of Medicine Professionalism Award, given to the faculty member who best demonstrates altruism, accountability to patients, the public and profession; a commitment to excellence, sense of duty, honor and integrity; and humanism, empathy and respect for others. He has also been named to Madison Magazine’s Top Docs in Madison list. Dr. Shiffler is highly active in medical education in both classroom and clinical settings, serving as faculty leader for the internal medicine interest group. Dr. Shiffler is a past winner of the Department of Medicine’s Schilling-Harkness Teaching Award for teaching excellence in educating medical students and the American College of Physicians Young Internist Award for the state of Wisconsin.
