Professional Activities

Dr. Monica Patel is a faculty member in the Division of Hematology, Medical Oncology and Palliative Care within the Department of Medicine. She is the UWCCC Faculty Director of Diversity & Inclusion in Clinical Research. Dr. Patel is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and the Big 10 Cancer Research Consortium. She is a recipient of the 2020 Excellence in Clinical Research Award at Michigan Medicine, Rogel Cancer Center.

Clinical Interests

Dr. Patel's clinical practice focuses on gastrointestinal malignancies, with a particular emphasis on pancreas cancer.

Research Specialities

Dr. Patel's research focuses on disparities in cancer clinical trials, specifically related to sex and race. She is also active in the enrollment of patients with gastrointestinal malignancies to clinical trials. She is a member of the UW Carbone Cancer Center Gastrointestinal Oncology Disease Oriented Team (DOT), Palliative Care and Supportive Oncology DOT, and the Cancer Therapy Discovery and Development (CTD2) program.
